Job Information
Job Summary:
The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools runs an Extended Day program supporting 700+ students per year. The Campus Monitor position is designed to assist with the operations at the Historic Campus, including Middle School lunch/Recess, High School lunch, and Extended Day for grades 3-8. Supervising students is critical to providing a safe environment.
The hours for this role are between 11am and 6pm daily. Responsibilities include lunch supervision, recess supervision, and Late Day supervision.
Responsibilities:


  • Active supervision of students during lunch and recess, ensuring appropriate behavior.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enforce safe behavior and expectations.
  • Supervise students needing additional care after school, developing and implementing programming.
  • Exhibit dependability, trustworthiness, and self-direction.
  • Perform other related work as needed.

    Competencies:

    • Work with children in a progressive learning environment.
    • Receptive to feedback and able to make adjustments.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
    • Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
    • Comfortable working with mobile technology.
    • Independently supervise groups of children.
    • Support children through developmental growth stages.
    • Communicate effectively with families and faculty.

      Additional Requirements
      Education, Experience, or Certifications:

      • High School diploma required.
      • Must be at least 18 years of age.
      • Experience working with nursery-aged children in a daycare, camp, or school setting required.

        Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

        • Move around the classroom and building to interact with students and staff.
        • Facilitate programs inside and outside, even in winter months.
        • Escort children during arrival and dismissal, including climbing stairs.
        • This role will switch to approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during summer months.
        • This is a benefits-eligible position with retirement options, health insurance, and more.
        • Location: Historic Campus, 1362 East 59th Street.

          Hourly Pay: $20.00
