SUMMARY: This unique and highly visible role is essential to
Power's ability to continue to be successful in the eyes of
clients, architects, engineers and subcontractors. The QSM is an
internal technical resource for all Power project teams. The QSM is
involved from concept through occupancy for every project and
targets any imperfections in the building design or process. A
primary goal is to ensure that project team members are constantly
learning and improving such that our final product fits the
client's needs. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and provide opinions
and suggestions periodically throughout the planning and design
phases. Includes reviewing design documents at each phase for
quality with the intent to identify challenges and
opportunities.
- Assist project teams in the execution of projects through
regular job walks, shop drawings technical reviews, mock up
development, and preconstruction meetings.
- Research, assimilate and share knowledge about both current and
emerging products, technologies, and techniques that may provide
value for current and upcoming projects.
- Develop and maintain company knowledge resources including
quality training programs, notes, workshops, lessons learned, and
divisional guidelines.
- Support Project Managers during value engineering efforts and
in the buying of a fully integrated scope of work.
- Schedule timely project site visits during installation to
review progress and quality. Provide guidance for component testing
and start-up, integrated system testing, commissioning, training,
and acceptance.
- Attend periodic Project Engineer meetings with the objective
being to help this group learn and understand the multiple facets
of different systems. Emphasize what to look for, what to avoid,
how best to leverage early team involvement, etc.
- Conduct monthly quality workshops using lessons learned
experiences from current projects such that this unique knowledge
and information is shared with other project teams
expeditiously.
- Attend workshops, seminars and education opportunities in order
to maintain knowledge level.
- Participate in quarterly operations meetings.
- Selective travel to out of state project sites may be required
from time to time. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 10 years of related experience
- 4 year technical degree in architecture, construction
management or a related engineering course of study plus practical
construction industry experience.
- Technical knowledge:
- Construction safety
- Strong background with construction procedures and practices,
knowledge on how to read construction documents.
- Understands major concepts of Building Science and can
interpret design documents to ensure that design will result in a
durable and well performing building. Ability to communicate
concerns in an effective manner with project teams resulting in
resolution of concerns in a collaborative manner.
- Experience in reviewing and coordinating technical submittals
for enclosure systems
- Experience with various ASTM standards and test procedures
related to building construction, particularly those related to
enclosure and flooring installations.
- Experience with flooring products and various issues related
their installation.
- Experience with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection,
electrical and low voltage systems.
- Building codes and their interpretation.
- General construction Quality Assurance and Quality Control
processes

delivery of technical learning and business development
presentations.

- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of
personalities and backgrounds from owners, architects, management
staff to subcontractors, manufacturers and tradesmen.
- Computer software skills : Microsoft toolset, Bluebeam, Revit,
Navisworks, experience with photogrammetry and
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Mobility required for sitting, standing, walking uneven
surfaces, climbing stairs and ladders. Manual/finger dexterity in
both hands required to operate a keyboard and manipulate small
objects. Ability to lift, hold and carry up to15 pounds
occasionally. Ability to hear, see and touch. Concentration or
mental effort required for reading, writing, calculation, analysis
and visualization. Working conditions may range from an office
environment with uniform temperatures, a clean room environment, a
factory environment with variable temperatures, outside work
subject to weather conditions. Air conditions may be normal, dirty,
dusty, wet or humid or affected by fumes, smoke and chemicals.
- Experiences heights and confined spaces.
- Experiences noise levels that require ear protection and safety
conditions that require wearing a hard hat and protective footwear.
